The International Academy of Public Safety (IAPS) would like to welcome aboard the Sampson County Sheriff's Office
Woodbridge, VA - February 5, 2010
The International Academy of Public Safety (IAPS) would like to welcome aboard the Sampson County Sheriff's Office (SCSO).
The Sampson County Sheriff's Office is located in eastern North Carolina, and like all law enforcement agencies, they are charged with keeping their citizens safe by being vigilant and ready for any situation that may arise.
Sampson County Sheriff, Jimmy Thornton, understands that maintaining a state of readiness for any situation that arises in his community, he and his deputies, as well as all of SCSO personnel, must be proactive in obtaining the most current, relevant and professional training available.
At the same time, Sheriff Thornton knows that training costs money. In tough economic times, the first budget cuts to occur are usually in training.
Sheriff Thornton met with the IAPS Administration recently and he said when we spoke; "When we met with your team, the switch went on. We can now obtain training easily and in a very cost effective way in order to stay ahead of the criminals, who certainly try to stay one step ahead of us".
As a new member of the IAPS, the Sampson County Sheriff's Office will be able to take advantage of the Academy's motto, which is, "Training Anytime, Anywhere". Furthermore, they will be able to do so because the training offered through the IAPS fits well within their budget constraints, and a need to maintain the readiness posture that Sheriff Thornton mandates for his personnel.
Sheriff's Thornton agreed, "We're in the 21st century, time is important and so is the cost to obtain good training. It's hard to bring employees in to the office to get trained, especially if you're a small agency and you have many responsibilities to a community. Now our employees can obtain training at home, in the office, or in their patrol vehicle at a cost that is incredibly hard to beat".
The IAPS is certainly proud to have the Sampson County Sheriff's Office as a member of the Academy. As a partner with the IAPS, the SCSO will continue to keep their community safe through up to date training, maintaining their readiness that their community expects of SCSO personnel.
